 organizational system of project management :




projects operate within the constrains imposed by the organization .

so we find the project managers needs to understand where responsibilities and accountabilities and the authority reside in  the organization to effectively manager their projects .

  • The main system factors include :

Governance framework : structure arrangements at all levels of an organization designed to influence the behavior of its members .which includes : rules - polices - processes - procedures ,relationships and system , so it help the project manager to his objectives are set and achieved .and the performance is optimized .

management elements :the component of general management according to its governance framework which the key functions are division of work , authority and responsibilities ,optimal use of resources and moral and ethics . 

organizational structure types :there are 5 types of organizational structure types :

Functional organization :



like in the above pic of functional organization we find manager for specific work and every manager has his staff , and if the staff with the first manager need something from the other staff should tell his manager and the first manager request it from other manager and the second manager tell his staff and feedback to him then tell the first manager to tell his staff , 

so we find its disadvantage no time consuming and no project manager but have one advantage (specialist of each manager) .


Weak organization :

in the above pic we find the same of functional organization but one of skilled staff be project coordinator in part time and his authority be 5% and be coordinator with the all staffs of managers .


Balanced organization :


in the above pic we find in the structure project manager with the functional manager and both have 50% authority so called balanced organization , so in management it's not good  when the project have 2 mind .


Strong organization :


in the above pic we find the organization have PMO and his team project managers , so the functional manager be service , and the project manager request tasks to functional managers , the PM have 95% authority .

 

Projectized organization :


the Projectized its for mega project and every manager for this work and the disadvantage of it heir and fire of organization means the team will be for this project only . 


  • finally we need know the function of PMO : 

  1. managing shard resources 
  2. developing the management methodology , standards .
  3. coaching , monitoring , training and oversight .
  4. auditing with project polices and procedure .
  5. coordinating the communication across the project
