The Fifth lecture about Power protection System

To Continue our education of methods of fault detection :

Direction of Power flow :

must know the direction of the current , it's starting from generator and pass in 

normal passing . 

In case of back energy so the generator convert to motor and consider load on the 

system because it take power .

Buchholze Relay :

 

It's fast mechanical device  in its performance and founded in the transformer .

its contain of :

 

• it has 2 buoy  - the first buoy in the top and the second in the bottom , in case of 

  short circuit occur inside the transformer the oil boil and the gases go up until 

  the first buoy swings and its buoy for alarm  .

• in case of not dis-connect the transformer after the alarm , the gases increase 

  and the second buoy swings and occur trip and dis-connect the transformer .

Non Electrical quantities :

Temperature :

• founded limit for oil temperature :

95 for alarm   -   105 for Trip .

• Founded limit for winding temperature :

105 for alarm    110 for trip

Pressure :

 In case of delay the running of Buchholze Relay  and Differential Relay the pressure 

of oil increase and explodes the pressure relief .
