The Project Management Processes

The Project Management Processes :

to continue our study of project management and know the phases of the project which through .

now we should know the Project Life cycle types :

Predictive :

project scope , time and cost are determine in the early project phases .(Waterfall)

Iterative :

Project scope is generally determined early , time and cost estimated .(research document like corona virus ).

Incremental :

the deliverable is produced through a  series of iterations , and each iteration adds functionality to the deliverable .

Adaptive :

iterative and incremental called change driven (IOS-Android ).

Project Management Processes :

the project life cycle is managed by executing a series of project management activities

so we can say every project management process produce one or more deliverables or output from one or more input using tools and techniques , project management process linked by outcomes /deliverables , an output may be an input to other process or deliverables .

Process Group :

Logical grouping of project management processes to achieve specific project objectives .

Initiating :

to define new project / phase by obtaining authorization .[2 process]

Planning :

establish scope - define objectives and cause of action to achieve them .[24 process]

Executing :

to complete the work defined in the project management plan to satisfy requirements .[10 process]

Monitoring and control :

to track and review the progress and performance and to initiate the required changes .[12 process]which there actual states and planned statues and do (root cause analysis ) to compare between them to see if there any variance between them do correction action to solve past actions and preventive action to prevent any problem or action in the future .

closing :

to formally complete a project phase or contract . [1 process]

to be totally 49 processes .

Project management Data & Information :

Work Performance data : in Executing process

Row observation - row measurements - start /finish data -actual cost/duration .

so it's consider the actual data occurred in the executing process like the sand truck be in site at 8 am and finish at 1pm so put 5 ton sand with the total cost 100 $ so like that .

Work performance information : in controlling process

Compare the actual data to the planned data to get information , and know if any variance the the change status , so need to collect the performing data and know the deliverable status if completed or validated to the end user .

Work performance Report : overall control

it's consider physical or electronic presentation of  W.P.I.

like dashboards - updates - recommendations .

the meaning of ITTOS :

Input Techniques Tools and Output .

The Tailoring management processes :

the selection of appropriate project management processes ,ITTOS and life cycle phases .

Project management Documents :

The Project sponsor is accountable for development of business .
The Project manger is responsible to keep the project objectives .

Business Case :

a documented  economic feasibility study used to ensure validity of the benefits of selected component to obtain authorization for further project management activities .
Business needs : business problem -scope - value .
Situation needs : strategies - risks-success factors .
Recommendations : How - when - who of resources .

Benefits management plan :

a documented explanation defining the processes for creating and maximizing and sustaining the benefits .

Target benefits : net -value - time frame
Owner benefits
Strategic alignment like Egypt 2030 .
Metrics .

Project charter :

a documented issued by project sponsor which provide the project manager authorization to apply resources to project activities .

  1. Initial scope .
  2. initial budget
  3. initial schedule .
  4. main stakeholders .
  5. sponsor approval .

Project management plan :

document that describes , how the project will be executing , monitoring and control and closed , have 12 subsidiary plan (scope-cost-schedule ,.....etc)

3 Baselines (Scope-Schedule - Cost ) .
